New Year, New City, New Life

Where do I begin my first post in 2011. Actually, my first post in several months. The end of 2010 was an ending to a life that I once had. A life that I had once been amazing and filled with hope and love. However...there are some things in life that are not meant to be. And, I am the true definition of that.

A good friend sent me a quote that said "Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserve, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desire can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours."

So with that said, I couldn't be more happy to blog my first post in 2011 in a new city and new life. I am already making new relationships and discovering things about myself I had no idea I was capable of.

This year is going to be fabulous! Jewelry, fashion, clothes, designers, trade shows and so much more!! I am officially ready to bring you how to be your best in 2011. Because I know I will be.

I was once told I wasn't capable of living in a big city. Well, I can't wait to prove them wrong...

New York Bound

I'm back! I cannot tell you how excited I am to start feeling better and back at blogging. I have had pneumonia for the past 2 weeks and it literally knocked me off my feet. The last time I remember being that sick, I had mono and strep throat...and that was 6 years ago. Either way, I'm back and ready to share more about What to Wear & How to Wear It.

Prior to getting beyond sick, I visited a good friend in New York. Having never been to New York, she showed me the ropes and I was able to act like a total tourist. From Bryant Park, NY Library, Town Square and then Central Park...it was amazing! I even got to see the NYC Marathon. I still didn't get the hang of catching a cab but next time I will do better. Plus New York has the best restaurants in the country. We ate tons of great food and was surrounded with great company.

Thanks Lise and friends for a great trip!!

R.U.B.Y. - Lucky Magazine

In this week's addition of R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth, I could not be more excited. I was looking through my October issue of Lucky and found a R.U.B.Y. piece. The article was on "Biker Chains" and how "These pieces come off more chic than Harley but with just as much attitude. OMG! I couldn't believe it.

The piece featured in the magazine is $79 and can be found at Talbots. The R.U.B.Y. piece is $16.50 and can  be purchased through me.

So Crisp and Clean

As I was looking through my closet today, I came across my classic white button-down shirt. This is probably one of my most versatile pieces in my entire closet. They're simple, chic, and can easily be dressed up or down, making them an essential item in any wardrobe. I would suggest if you do not have one yet, go to your nearest Banana Republic, Macy's, Nordstrom, or any store for that matter and purchase.

Below are 3 completely different types of outfits that will work with the white button-down.

1. Brunch - Skinny jeans, white button down, ballet flats, bright scarf, Kate Spade bag and Armani sunglasses.

2. Day at the Office - Pencil skirt, white button down, belt, Banana Republic pumps, Anne Klein watch and Armani sunglasses.

3. Hippy Chick - BCBG Tan Vest, white button down, Fedora, Express shorts, Riding Boots and R.U.B.Y. fringe bag.

Check out how the Stars are wearing the button down...

If you have other suggestions for how to wear a white button-down, leave a comment!

Some Things Never Change

Not too long ago I was at my parents home in Ohio. I have 2 aunts and 3 uncles on my dad's side of the family. That afternoon, they decided to bring photo's from their childhood for the family to look through. I love anything and everything vintage so I cannot tell you how excited I was to go through hundreds of pictures of my dad, aunts, uncles, and grandparents during their younger years.

I came across one picture that really made me stop. It is my Great Grandma Grace. She is absolutely stunning in this picture. She is wearing a camel color trench coat, chunky necklace and classic black handbag. She looks timeless.

I am sure we have all heard people say or have said "I should have kept my leather jacket because they are in style today!" My Great Grandma knew what she was doing. An elegant and classy lady. I think she would be proud I have a camel color trench coat and always wear accessories!

R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth

R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth is such an adventure and I am loving every second of it. For those that do not know, I buy jewelry and accessories that are in style/season from Designers all over the US and resell. I watch trends, the runway, magazines and anything I can get my hands on to determine what I buy. At this moment, I have all my pieces at my home boutique but my goal is to be store front in 3 years.

Because my pieces are not visible to the public at all times, I have made the decision that every week I will be featuring a new R.U.B.Y. piece.

This week is a super fun necklace that anytime I wear, I get compliments! It's a silver flower bib necklace priced at $14. Ginnifer Goodwin is wearing a similar piece and just looks amazing.

If you are interested in this necklace, please email me at kaley_hedric@hotmail.com.

A Touch of Vintage

In a recent visit to Columbus, Ohio I came across an amazing boutique called Francesca's. If I tell you this store was made for me, that would not even justify it. The clothes are ahhh-mazing and I have found some spectacular Fall staples to add to your wardrobe.

(Left to right)
Isla Coat - Camel double breasted peacoat that is the perfect classic coat. Love this paired with a chunky scarf! $84.

Wild Child Vest - Faux fur vest! It's the ultimate Fall staple and show stopping piece when paired with jeans and a T. $44.

Act of Pursuit Jacket - This jacket is amazing. The wool blended fabric plus the neutral color and the extended collar...OMG! What couldn't you pair this jacket with?! Jeans, leather shorts, etc. $64.

Purr-fect Trench Coat - Trench coats are a must have for the Fall. If you do not have one, please buy one! It is a purchase that you will wear almost every day in the Fall. This trench is animal print and also super trendy for the Fall. $54.

Find a Francesca's near you.
